This year's prospect poll sucks. I know we're not voting for a Prime Minister or anything, but it's a legitimately difficult task looking up and down that list and picking the best of the remaining.
You've got the three AHL guys who were cornerstones for the Heat at three different positions (Reinhart, Spoon, Ortio). We're talking about the spine of the Heat last year.
Then you've got other good AHL guys who have shown they can hang in the NHL (Cundari, Billins, Knight). Billins is a AHL all-star who didn't look all that out of place in his time last year. Cundari is fun as hell to watch in both leagues. Knight is a legitimate prospect who I'm sure will be an NHL player. He's got too much skill and sense NOT to be.
Then you've got unknowns, but nonetheless intriguing prospects who could become solid players (Jankowski, Gillies, Sieloff, Wolf, Ferland).
Then you've got first-year AHL guys who look like solid prospects and have tools to become NHL players (Arnold, Kulak, Culkin, Van Brabant, Agostino).
That's still not counting guys like McDonald, Smith, Hickey, Kanzig, Roy or Ollas Mattson.
All in all, there's no way we don't get a solid crop of NHLers out of that group. There's no way.
