Just to be picky:
EA is a publisher. It publishes games. That means it pays for the development of the games. It distributes the games, etc. What it doesn't do is develop the games. So when you're talking about development issues like connection and invisible bubbles, you're actually talking about EA Sports (specifically EA Canada).
Battlefield, on the other hand, is developed by DICE. So your issue with Battlefield should be completely irrelevant to NHL 15, as while EA can give advice or direction, they do not actually fix/break parts of games that you dislike/like.
So, not trusting EA is fine I guess, but it's also kind of irrelevant to your critique of NHL 15. Battlefield, NHL, Mass Effect, The Sims, and Dead Space are all published by EA, but they're all built by different studios, different people, and thus, the problems or successes in the development of one does not relate to the problems or successes of another.
Hell, NHL and FIFA are made by the same studio, and they even have unique problems and successes in their development! lol.
Pointlessly long and wordy, I know, but it just seem a lot of the complaints aren't really valid to EA specifically. They are the third best publishing company in terms of game quality (ahead of Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, Activision, etc.), so clearly they have some studios that are doing things really well.
