I went to GMac for 2yrs (which is right downtown) before transferring to UofA, I did that drive every day. Except for the semester where my last class finished at 4pm, I was always usually home in about 20.
EDIT: Though if its summer, you've always gotta factor in the construction. That city gets hit so hard every winter that, at least the years I was there, it felt like every major road was simultaneously under construction from Jun-Aug. Probably the only place where it's actually quicker getting around in winter than summer..

I agree. The fastest month for traffic is April I think, because construction hasn't started and the snow is usually gone.
I think the transportation dept does a poor job of amending traffic light synchronization on major roads or key roads around construction projects.
