It pains me to say it, as I hate the Avs, but they do have a crazy amount of forward depth and a solid goaltender. Their depth on D is questionable, especially int he West, but there are a lot of great teams in a similar position.
I think Iginla wanted out of Boston after that whole PK Subban debacle. I also think Iginla was tired of bouncing from team to team and wanted to stick somewhere until retirement.
The contract doesn't look so bad if Iginla averages 20-30 goals. He is going to get a lot of PP time with some very talented young forwards. He's also not going to be expected to carry the team, he'll be 4-5th forward on that team.
