I'd give him $4.5, and I'd give him an NMC but I'd only give him two years of that. And I'd prefer to wait until Christmas before I offered it. I want to see where he is. I might give him 3 years but no NMC in the last year.
He probably could get more on the open market but a team trying to rise with a promising prospect pool and players who will becoming off their ELCs cannot burden themselves with long-term contracts.
While his last contract was a bargain the team doesn't owe him an overpayment. Giving a 32+ year old with injury and consistency issues an NMC is paying that back
