Granlund was a good surprise when he got called up until he got injured. Why? Hartley loved the kid, and IIRC, kept throwing him out in big situations to take faceoffs. He definitely has 'impact potential' on the Flames, considering how he did in the NHL and how much confidence Hartley showed in Granlund.
As an aside, it just makes the "Hartley doesn't like Baertschi" or "treats him unfairly" to be nothing more than drivel. Show Hartley you are willing to play an intense, mature game, and he will keep throwing you out even if you make a few mistakes. Can't think of a better coach at the moment who seems to have an instinct as to when to increase the icetime allotted to rookies under tough circumstances, and when to reign them back in when needed. Doing a heck of a job as a developmental coach!
