I knew the show was being adapted from a series of books but had no clue it had anything to do with vampires so while im not disappointed in that, I too would have preferred a slow reveal with it first developing the unknown virus aspect first. I also understand they have to set up the world plus introduce the characters in a short amount of time but I just couldn't help roll my eyes when hearing the possible "hero" is named Goodweather while the evil cooperation is called Stoneheart, lol. Also when he got to the airport and demanded his milk, I thought was hilarious while his diatribe to the cop about being the first to enter the plane was just painful to watch, that just felt like an early 90's Stephen King miniseries. It's been posted above that maybe we've just been spoiled with some great shows lately (I love The Americans) which I will agree with and offer that maybe it shouldn't be taken so seriously but rather enjoyed for what it is, simple scary TV or at least that's how I'll approach it until/unless it becomes a lot smarter.
