It most certainly does not mean "pretty much nothing". NHLE is an aggregate. It is partially useful, but not unproblematic. So long as one understands that it includes a sizeable standard deviation that hampers its historical accuracy, it at minimum provides a variable for attempting to assess prospect development across a range of different hockey leagues, and in terms of their respective age.
