I think the on-ice sessions are greatly underrated. It gives all the prospects an idea of how far the depth chart they currently are. If they go to camp getting out-performed by walk-ons, then it's time to either step up the training or accept that getting a degree is the best course of action.
Helps a little to build chemistry for the future and I'm sure these prospects get really excited seeing who they may be linemates with in the future. I'm sure Johnny was happy to see all the huge players with character around him who may save his ass one day.
