I always figured those window cleaner "business" thingies were a bit of a scam, not that far off from MLM companies.

I knew a couple of people that got into that right after high school because they were attracted to the idea of "Wow, I just go wash windows and make $1000/week?! I'm in!". Then they "sell" you a $300 Cleaning/business kit to get you started.

Imo, it's the exact same premise as MLM. Their higher up people are selling a "kit" and hope to the newbies, with the knowledge that 99% of those guys are going to be students/people who look for easy cash, and know they likely won't have the sales experience to do anything sustainable in terms of keeping their "business" going and will eventually just give up when they find out they're lucky to bring in $100 a week.

Which doesn't matter because the whole business model is based around the initial buying of the "business kits" by newbies and has nothing to do with getting actual clients involved. The "kit" buyers are the clients, they just don't know it.
