The police are only allowed to use those finger prints for this case, and this case only.
Edit: But I agree that it seems a little crazy how the police are treating this guy especially if he is completely innocent in regards to the missing people. They adjourned the case for 2 days for a simple charge that would likely have you free if it was any other person or any other case. If I was innocent and in his position I would feel my rights are being violated, but on the other hand he isn't completely innocent having fake ID's on him and stolen credit cards.
