Bennett needs another year in junior, I think. I mean training camp can always bring out a different side of players, but although he was in the upper end at camp, he was still a step behind a couple of a our more experienced guys who could be knocking in september. Was hoping to see a little more in the "smarts" department from him. But no doubt there is a skill set there.
Klimchuk and Smith were the most pleasant surprises of development camp. I had put Klimchuk behind Poirier since their draft, but I think Klimchuk could eventually surpass Emile, as he is extremely versatile as a player with a ton of skill (more than i had given him credit for). I think Smith could actually push for a spot in september. He looks like he could be an NHLer sooner than later, as he's already got the size down and knows how to use it.
Arnold also impressed. His skating is getting better and you can tell he has that 4 years of NCAA experience under his belt. McDonald has the makings of a good goalie. I don't feel quite as bad now about that pick. I think Kulak could be a more valuable D prospect than we had previously thought. Agostino is getting there, he's got some good qualities, though I think it'll be two seasons in the AHL before he gets a look at the next level.
Johnny Gaudreau is an NHLer, end of story.
