I wouldn't completely rule out a female player one day, a ridiculously tough 180 pound 5'10 woman could make it. I've seen women that are stronger than men that are also natural, they are rare but they exist. I've seen a 135 pound female wrestler beat the crap out of a 200 pound man like he was a small child.
To make the NHL a women wouldn't have to physically dominate, she'd just have to be good enough. One problem has to be that they never learn checking and never get the chance to train to the level of men. It would take a girl with great genetics that plays with boys from a young age. To say no women could ever make it because of physical limitations isn't completely true, unlikely, but not impossible. It's not like every male player is physically dominant and all muscle.
