It will happen but hockey will be one of the last sports to do it. Hockey, more than any other major sport still clings to the idea that you need to have played the game to know how to manage a team. You see in other sports - baseball and basketball in particular - that they've moved past the jocks and into smart people running teams.
There's the odd guy like Feaster who didn't play at a high level but its rare.
