It really does sound like he isn't going to sign. I guess the only thing they could do to resolve his depth of organization concern is give him assurances that he is in their plans because of his size and accomplishments. But when you look at the prospect pool and the NHL roster, his odds of making it in that organization really are laughable.
He's behind Kane, Hossa, Smith, Versteeg in the big club. And then down in Rockford they already have a top level RW prospect with Ryan Hartman there who will likely be playing in Rockford again next year after playing there for 9 games last year and putting up 7 points. Add in the fact they are overloaded on solid prospects at Center (Teuvo Teravainen, Drew LeBlanc, Mark McNeill, Phillip Danault to name just a few) meaning one of those guys will likely be playing RW next year, and his chances at getting decent ice time even in the AHL would be a concern for him.
