"Strong and free" strikes me as some sort of Wildrose/Alberta Party shiz with separatist undertones. You may as well put "More Alberta, Less Ottawa" and be honest about it.
I'd rather have a motto of "Prosperity and onward" or something like that to indicate we are stable, growing economy with a high quality of life.
