The problem that an AHL team faces is that they need to replace injuries for TWO teams. If the Flames suffer an injury, call up one of the top guys from the farm. Meanwhile, injuries on their own team are an even bigger problem due to the schedule which includes 3 games in 3 nights and lengthy bus rides.
There is PLENTY of room for Harrison to get icetime in Adirondack.

That is true, but I'd like to see him excel at college hockey first before making the jump. Being a returning player in college almost guarantees Harrison will get more ice time - and I'm not convinced Harrison will be more than an injury fill-in or in the ECHL if he turned pro now.
College seems like the safest route for now, unless he is confident in turning pro and that he is good enough for starting minutes in the AHL, or if he doesn't get more ice time next season.
