Really hope Wolf makes the Flames out of training camp. Really excited about him.
Quote:
David Wolf, at some point this weekend, will seek out a ruling.
With a full-contact scrimmage slated for Monday — Day 4 of the Calgary Flames’ development camp — Wolf, a toughie, needs to know the parameters.
How much mayhem is permitted?
“Of course, I’m going to ask the coaches about how hard we can play,” said Wolf. “Then I will see what happens.”
This past spring, the Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators had also courted Wolf, who ended up signing a one-year deal — worth $70,000 in the American Hockey League, $775,000 in Calgary.
Up the highway, another German forward will be trying to impress his bosses, too, in the fall. Wolf has met Leon Draisaitl, picked third overall by the Edmonton Oilers last week.
“My dad actually played with his dad (Peter),” he said. “I don’t know him well, but I skated with him a couple years ago. I wished him luck on Facebook before the draft. I’m pretty happy a German player was a first-round draft (pick) this year.”
But should the countrymen meet in, say, a pre-season contest, don’t expect to see an embrace.
“If we play one day, it’s going to be — of course — no friends,” said Wolf. “Especially against Edmonton. I’m trying to play for the Flames right now. If I’m going to play one day against Edmonton, it’s not going to be friendly.”
