United just posted some information which I also saw online and heard accounts off. I believe Alvin also had an oil company that went belly up in around 2008 or 2009 (I think it was Bluesky Oil and Gas Corp or something like that.)
There was an early article I read that stated they sold their home last year for $705,000. They continued to live in the home under lease. This seemed odd to me because people wouldn't generally sell their home well in advance especially in a hot housing market like Calgary unless they really needed the money. $705,000 also seems pretty cheap for the area especially considering they are half a block from the park and I believe the home is a 50 foot lot (very valuable.)
I also looked at the Kijiji ads that were posted for some of their items and the things did not look very attractive. A Globe and Mail article (
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/...ticle19463983/) has a quote from a neighbour saying "the items were dated and she did not see anything that looked very valuable."
The few bits of information that are floating around were starting to piece together in my mind that this disappearance could be financially related in some manner.
