I like this for a few reasons:
Byron came on well late in the year - this gives him more time to see if that was a trend or aberration. Worst case, he ends up in Glens Falls.
It also shows players that hard work will earn you a contract, promotes positive play, despite what is likely to be a long losing season
And finally it makes just that little more competition for young guys to force their way onto the team. That never hurts
