New runway is kind of an unnecessarily long taxi to the WestJet gates if the airport isn't busy, and to land southbound you have to fly further if coming from the south. Both are big factors. The published noise procedures show south arrivals coming over Airdrie on the old and new runways as #1 and #2 choices for after 11 pm, with runway 29 (over Castleridge) as #3... so we'll have to see how it shakes out. They haven't really been going by the published procedures as of now, it seems.
