The problem is that often the kidnappers are related to the family or a family member is guilty and it re-enforces these random judgements. I would be willing to bet that you can't blindly pick out guilty and not guilty kidnappers/murdrers from the press conferences asking for their kids back. As such it is just insulting to those who really did just suffer a tragic loss.
