Last season was a wash for Vancouver. I remember saying to a buddy when Tortarella walked through the dressing room for the first interview that this season for Vancouver was either going to be great or a complete disaster. Well, we know how that turned out.

So far solid moves by Benning, might be a little to late but good signings none the less. If the Sedins rebound then I can easily see Vrbata putting up 40 goals. These guys made careers for NHL scrubs like Bernier, Pyatt and Carter. Vrbata is a legit NHL forward.

Center depth still sucks. Santorelli is a winger not a center. Vey? I thought he is a winger. Could be wrong there but don't think so. So going into the season I see Sedin, Bonino, Matthias and Richardson down the middle unless Horvat can prove he belongs which I don' think he does yet.

Competition is good. Vancouver and Edmonton both made solid roster moves this off season. This year we see what a few rookies can do and see where we need to improve next year. I like Calgary's course, no need to rush given what the others have done as long as we see progression.
