The NCAA believes they are protecting their student athletes from being exploited by corrupting outside influences. Of course, there's probably no organization in the US that exploits young athletes more than the NCAA.


The kids who play in the CHL will participate in the Prospects tournament and at least part of training camp, even if it means missing the start of the CHL seasons. The CHL and NHL have a much more friendly relationship than either have with the NCAA.

Any junior player who is eligible for the NHL Draft is over 18, and likely done with high school, and I don't know if any attend post-secondary until after their CHL days are done, so they're not likely to be missing any school while attending the NHL camp and playing in the preseason.
