they aren't trading away 1st/2nd round picks for Vets like the Flames did for Jokinen and Cammileri

Unless the Canucks start trading futures to push for a playoff spot it's not really a close comparison

Calgary traded for Jokinen on March 4, 2009, at which time they were
in 3rd place in the Western Conference.
The notion that they should be rebuilding was ridiculous at that time, and isn't an apt comparison for the current Canucks.
