1. Would that team be any good?
Lots of this lineup are going to be players that aren't familiar with each other or with the AHL style. Throw in the fact that we have a new coach with a different system that any of the returning players would know, I think we will struggle in the first few months. I don't have any high expectations for this team because it will be such a big adjustment year, both for the AHL and NHL Flames. Alot of the success depends on whether the team is going to have time to have chemistry together or if we will have a ton of callups. The Heat were good when they were able to keep the core of the team together. When the Flames hit injury problems and we had callups and random signings, we weren't any good.
2. Will they bring in any "Jones'", "Street's", "Kolanos'" type players on NHL two ways?
I think our Street and Jones players are now Reinhart and Granlund. Strong AHL players with a taste of the NHL. I think the torch has been passed to these two to be those in between sorts of players.
3. Will they bring in any "Arsene's", "Locke's", "Olsen's" on AHL deals?
They have to. We have to bring in some "old guys" and some guys who won't move from the AHL to stabilize the team. I mean look at the ages on the roster. With the exception of Thiessen who was signed today, the oldest in the group is 24. It's a bunch of guys in their early 20's. Not saying that it is impossible for one of them to step up into a leadership role or the role of room stabilizer, but I think it is a job better suited for Olson or someone with a little more life experience and room experience. And Olson from what I've read would have been captain if Arsene had not come onto the team . I would also like to see Locke and Miller brought back. I think they were pivotal in firing up the likes of Knight and Baertschi and exactly the sort of thing we need to have with our prospects.
