That crossed my mind as well. We actually seem to be getting the better of the deals - albeit slightly. Of course, that is also only comparing a specific subset of picks against each other, not the overall value of the trades.
_Q_ - I don't think we need to worry about the Flames having a 100% development rate for this comparison, as this list includes picks in and out, and nobody has such a skill at development. That remains an even test.
Looking at picks taken after requires making assumptions on the part of the management teams in place at the time of the draft. Certainly one could make a "could have had..." argument, but that is not an exercise I see as being terribly useful since the same could be done for literally every draft pick, ever.
