I think they are good spots. They communicate their message in a very clear manner, they are obviously memorable and they have a good tagline. All elements of effective ads.
Not every commercial has to be side splittingly funny to do the job. In fact most ads that are too funny don't do the job because the humor overshadows the key messages and the product being advertised.
Key example: I've had a ton of people tell me to check out the Coors Light "Man Law" ads. I tried to find them online and couldn't. Finally I did and realized why it was difficult...the ads were for Miller Light, not Coors as everyone had told me. That doesn't happen with good ads.
