Well, what happened to me was that I asked whether the cyclist was ok. He swore a little, but seemed unharmed. I went and checked my vehicle, and didn't see any damage, and it was a company car, so I wasn't as upset as I would have been if it had been my own. He then demanded that I drive him home as reparation for him ramming into me. When I explained to him that he was the one who did the wrong thing, he swore some more, and then pedelled off going the wrong way on a sidewalk. He was dressed as a 'serious' cyclist.
I don't know if cyclists have to carry insurance information. Good question. I know that I would have had to tackle him to get it.
That incident forever altered my outlook on cyclists. I realize that it's not fair to everyone else to have a negative view, but I haven't seen a lot to change that outlook since.
I treat them kind of like Canuck fans. Mild irritation and mockery. Sorry, hidden law abiding cyclists, I know you're out there.
