NHL draft discussion on CP. Don't get me wrong, I love that we discuss draft picks and of course it's extra exciting this year with the Flames picking fourth, but it's just the way it gets discussed.

I mean, you see the discussions and the absolutes so many posters speak in, and the way they describe the players like they've been following them since minor leagues and the way most of the posters are just going with what other posters are saying and then forming their opinion based on that. It just seems like one big fake discussion to me. Anyone else see this?

We most likely have 6 or 7 guys that may go in the top 5 and I get the feeling from reading those threads that 90% of the posters involved have 100% no idea how to separate those 6 or 7 players based on anything except other random posters saying things.

Ricthie's a great example. One article from sportsnet saying he's now top 3, and CP has shifted and most have him as a shoe in for top 3, or that the Flames will get him at 4.

Now I'm not saying he won't be in the top 3, and I'm not saying he would be a bust at 3, my contention is just with the disingenuous discussion about it.

"Yeah, I would love Ritchie at 4, I'm warming up to the idea of his shot down the wing"

"If we pick Ritchie he will be better then Reinhart because of X and Y and because Reinhart doesn't show as much Z."

Blah blah blah, you know most of those guys have no clue about any of those players lol.

I bet you if you put the top 7 draft picks on the ice together in white jerseys with no names or numbers, and were asked to say who's who and what their strengths and weaknesses are, 80% of CP would evaluate and differentiate just like me....

"Wow, those 7 guys are amazing, not sure who's who, but holy ****!".
