It is only a pre-season so I am not really worried. This game did not do the bubble players a favour. The whole team stank and not a lot of players really impressed at all. Tomorrow is D-Day(cut day) so here's what I think will happen tomorrow.
QB : I think Drew Tate will be a starter when the season starts based on the number of years he's been around in the league over Mitchell. Even though Tate didn't play well at all tonight, BLM didn't himself a favour because he was equally stink tonight as well. Third stringer is a tough one. Moniz might be a little ahead over Rusty Smith but you never know. I know one of them will be let go tomorrow or put in practice roster. I hope that's what Hufnagel do.
RB : No question, Jon Cornish and Matt Walter will make it. Jock Sanders will make it as well. He was good in the first game in both RB position and returner. Cote and St. Pierre will be in the lineup as FB. Charlie Power will be the odd man out.
Receivers : Some of the young guys will not make it due to numbers game. Safe to say McDaniel, Fuller, Lewis, Sinopli, Arthur, Parker, Price and West. Charbonneau-Campeau and Morin-Plante...one of them will be on the practice roster for the national. As for the rest, I like Cunningham because he can catch and a backup for Sanders(returner), unfortunately he might start as practice roster but I think he'll make if it wasn't for the numbers game. I think the Stamps will cut R Holland, Horne and Rucker not saying they are terrible but they cannot beat out the veterans.
OL :
I think the following players makes the team : Stanley Bryant, Edwin Harrison, Brett Jones, Brander Craighead, Pierre Lavertu, Dan Federkeil, Spencer Wilson, Billy Peach. Circelli, Bergman and Brad Erdos might start in Practice Roster or get cut.
Defense : I was not impressed with Rich Stubler supposedly awesome defense. I hope the lack of pressures from Defense is just for the pre-season because I am scared. I don't even think Kevin Glenn had to run for his life tonight at all. DL was not aggressive and DBs looks like an angel compared to Stamps' defense last few season.
DL :
The question is who will play opposite Charleston Hughes. Shawn Lemon, Freddie Bishop III, DeQuin Evans or Derek Wiggan. If we based it on tonight's game, I think Bishop had a slight edge. None of these guys really show much.
LB : i don't think the rookies will take any of Juwan Simpson, Keon Raymond or Deron Mayo's job anytime soon. Glenn Love might make it as a backup. If Bomar makes the team, it is for special team.
DB : The only battle here is between Ryan Steed and Buddy Jackson as CB. Steed looks good late in the game but Jackson played well in the first game as well. I hope they both make it because we haven't really seen much from this guys yet.
Special Team : no question here. Paredes, Maver and Jock Sanders.
