The Mormon church in the US acts a lot more "out there" down south than here, because they had a lot more political clout. Due to that, they were able to discriminate against people, especially gays, on the taxpayer dime. I believe they were also the prominent funders of Prop 8 in California as well. This sort of behaviour is not something we see here, so should be thankful they're a bit more reasonable. If they're respectful of the type of people we see targeted for discrimination in the US, of all places, I see no reason to care what their beliefs are.
