Well of course, I'm not suggesting that people risk their lives or livelihoods by hanging out with someone who is, or was, radicalized. But I would think that he, the larger Islamic community, and the organizations in Canada that should be working with the Islamic community would want people like your friend to help the situation if he could. And that he would have a lot to offer. To the legitimate Islamic community and to Canada and anti-terrorism/radical movements (for lack of a better term).

If he let his leaders (the legitimate ones, not the radical ones) and the law enforcement communities know he wanted to help, you think they would welcome the idea with open arms no? Or do you think, they think, that he (and people in situations like him) might still be a threat?

In seeing what I saw on CBC this morning, and some of the comments in this thread, it doesn't sound like a lot of the law enforcement organizations are really working with the Islamic community for community based approaches, including things like this which seem like they could really have a positive effect.
