[QUOTE=Dion;4807522]Stumbled upon this video quite be accident. In the 80's NHL teams would play games against the Russians in what was called a "Super Series". This game took place on Jan 3rd 1983 in the old Stampede Corral. Gives you a chance to players like Lanny McDonald in his prime.
Flames won the game 3-2
Please note it is the Russian broadcast of the game.
Thank you so much for posting this. I would have been 12 when this game took place. To be able to watch some of my favorite childhood idols, in such a great quality recording for its age, rekindles the great feelings growing up a Flames fan in that era.
It also reinforces how much the game has evolved. I believe the Oiler dynasty of the 80's and how the Flames became the better team by the end of that decade was a LARGE contributor to how the game is played today. Everyone back then knew we were witnessing hockey history, we just didn't realize the impact it would have on hockey's future.
