Have you? I believe when France made their European run their empire exceeded Nazi Germany and the Roman Empire. Its not like their history is one of defeat after defeat since the dawn of time... a notion that seems popular among people whot think 'history' started in 1938.
They've also fought several 'Vietnams' this century, and their current combat experience probably outstrips Canada's by several factors. They also have nuclear weapons.
