Their draw back is that their land mass is located in such a way that it is extremely difficult to defend. They can project power, but they have trouble defending themselves, historically anyway. Of course, after WWII, I would imagine they learned a few things, and it undoubtedly shaped their current attitude.

I was speaking not about current military strength, but of their fighting history. Canada has never lost a war that we were involved in.
