I've had that issue with my dryer vent.
The flaps got destroyed over time by the elements which allowed the birds to nest in there.
While I was pulling all that stuff out, an egg dropped to the ground and broke
There were more eggs but the birds never came back to them.
Since then installed one of these:
These need cleaning once in a while too, but at least nothing can get in there
