Actually, I'm pretty sure it was 40+ minutes he logged that game because Butler was ejected and SOB was in the box numerous times.
I too wouldn't mind keeping Wideman around to start the year. His trade value is low right now and if he has a great start to the season, the Flames might be able to get something nice for him at the trade deadline. Plus, it's not like we're super deep on the blueline either and he's really not taking a spot from a younger d-man. While Wotherspoon was outstanding and got better each game, it can't hurt to spend another year in the AHL. He's really the only one truly knocking on the door. Other than that, we've got maybe three "injury replacements" in Cundari, Billins and Smith.
Can't hurt to keep Wideman.
