I wasn't saying that he won't make the team or that should be bought out, just that he will likely play bottom pairing minutes again unless he has a bounce back season. I'm not optimistic about that since he's 31 and has never been more than average defensively. The minutes he has played in first two seasons were a bigger function of being one of the only options amongst a thin group.
The emergence of Brodie has alleviated some of that, and situationally Wideman's minutes have gotten easier as a result. Going forward I think it's more likely that he will be a powerplay specialist that sees sheltered defensive minutes, which is fine.
