Also I meant 6066 aluminum not 6061. It is what made Devinci's aluminum frames so coveted. There is a massive strength difference between the two.

Their is not much of a diffence in 6000 grades of aluminum unless your annealing it. 7000 grade is much better but still fails if dented or heated. Its the secondary metals they had in to each mixture of alloy that streghtens it via heeat works then chilling it to extreme levels. Aluminum dented or heated gets ruined. 4130 chromoly you can take a hammer too and it still is strong. If aluminum frames were sent to take real abuse stret bmx/MTB riders who ride in skateparks/street/trials would be using them. Their are a few limited number sponsered riders who do but they get their frames free as they break.
Edit: tell that to my friend who had a Synapse 3 where the frame snapped and ended up 2 inches in his leg. He now rides Surly Chromo frames exclusively.
