To be devils advocate you don't obviously know the difference between the two. Your a purist and I respect that but the motor only in gages on a hill. Its a .P.A.S. System that only engages when the tourque.(NQ) reackes a certain pressure on the chain. %90 percent of the time is just waiting. Thanks Tho. I'm not trying to be a dick but smartass remarks like that are what rig pigs say when you try to give an alternative energy solution .
P.s that thing has had a Electric Assist for only a couple of months. I have been doing the same route 5 plus years now. Don't be A complete dick. I've been peddling as many kms a week as you use your car.

Absolute BS. If your average speed is over 40 KPH like you claimed, there is no way in a million years you are only using electric assist on a hill. The most roided up pro cyclist in the world couldn't pedal that thing 40 KPH on flat land with that ridiculous riding position. The thing is part fashion statement, part e-bike. Let alone the fact it has no gearing. And also, you claim you built it like that for durability, and to handle potholes. There are guys out there with 20 year old chromoly frame bikes that pedal every day 7/365, and their bikes handle it fine. The best of the best on 16 pound, pro level, carbon road bikes have trouble averaging speeds like that in an urban setting once you factor in hills. If you are averaging 40 KPH that means you are peddling it, without assist, on flats at around 60 KPH.
Also, why don't you check out the Tesla thread for my opinion on alt energy. I am in the frikkin car business, and I desperately want electric cars to come out en masse.... even though it will probably cut my income in half.
And, how do you know how much I drive, ride and pedal? A lot of assumptions being made there. I average 300 K/week (pedalling) through the riding season. Maybe not quite as much as you, but at least I am powering each and every click.
Edit: Just noticed the suicide shifter which I'll admit is neat, and incredibly dangerous lol. So you are geared. But please, upload a video of that thing being pedalled at 50KPH, no assist. That would be epic, and I will bow down to you.
