The big question is do Treliving/Burke see an unmoveable 5.25M cap hit as a positive for three more years? You have to look beyond next season as this is probably the last chance they'll get to easily cut ties. Wideman is hardly going to be part of the solution as the team starts to trend upwards in a year or so.
They can still trade Wideman if they eat some salary. Granted I doubt it's this summer considering flames are not exactly flush when it comes to d-men.
