I think it was at that moment that he realized he had boxed me into the pump and the guy in front of me was still filling up so I had nowhere to go.

Why did that grind your gears? It sounds like you wanted to make him upset, otherwise you could have just put your vehicle in reverse and the back-up lights would have gotten the message across.
