I'm a Jew, and I would absolutely love to have that Jew hat, it's hilarious. But I would be scared to wear it, because I would accused of being an anti-Semite. But I have a very self deprecating sense of humour. I have a lot of relatives that have similar features to the guy on the hat. Yeah it's a stereotype, but a lot of stereotypes, are seeded in fact, like it or not.
I don't know where the line should be drawn here. If you name a team, after an noble African warrior tribe that say is known for hunting with spears, and your logo depicts an african man throwing a spear, are you being racist? You know someone is going to accuse you of a referencing a common stereotype, but is it the ignorance of spectator for not knowing the history of the spear hunting tribe? Or the ignorance of the owner of the team, for no foreseeing the ignorance and assumptive mentality of the spectator?
I am not an expert on Indian culture, but is the term Redskin akin to naming a team the N-words? Is it really that offensive? If the answer is yes, they absolutely have to rename the team.
But how PC is too PC now?
