I suppose it is time they change the name and get over it. But, there doesn't seem to be a lot of consensus one way or another whether it was a derogatory term. Some say Native American's started calling themselves it, some say it was based on the red tribal paint a tribe used. Seems to be some polls that say Native Americans are against it, and others say they don't care. Seems a case can be made that Braves, Indians, Tomahawk chops, etc have all had derogatory past uses as well. I bet it has been 200 years since anyone has called anyone a Redskin who wasn't a football player. If someone can show a national poll that proves the majority of Native american's find it offensive, then I agree they should change it. If it is just a small, but vocal group who wants to make a stink about something, then it is probably not a big deal.
