the 4th line was generally a decent line, for their limited role, on most nights. Pretty sure the flames record was better, much better, after the westgarth acquisition. The guy got tuned pretty good in a few fights, but there he was dropping the gloves again when he was back in the lineup.
That fact alone makes him > jackman. I tend to agree that the flames need some bruisers to police the ice given that the size of the team is likely going to be on the smaller side again this year.

The Flames' 4th line played 4 minutes a night and got dummied every game.
McGrattan fills our "tough guy" quota just fine. Bad hockey player, but at least he's a good fighter.
Players like Bouma are who you want on the 4th line. Burke talks about being a 4 line team, it starts with icing players who can actually play hockey. Bouma isn't afraid to fight every now and then, but he's actually good at the sport.
