I think the thing with the PDL is that it is supposed to be a league for kids/young men... so the local senior all star teams like Callies when they were so dominant with a bunch of ex Storm/Mustangs guys could probably work them over, but it's pretty much like comparing the Allan Cup to the Memorial Cup.

The NASL team in Edmonton is a much higher standard and hopefully Calgary can get there, but honestly I don't see it happening. McMahon is terrible for soccer, the city will never build a soccer stadium and nobody is going to build one from scratch for a team that will probably be break even, at best.

It's really sad for soccer in Calgary but I just don't see it going anywhere at the top level for a long time. Right now I think most of the fields spectator wise probably aren't even fit for a PDL team except maybe rugby park. Foothills was pretty poor for the PDL/A-League franchise. Best hope is probably that new fieldhouse at foothills if it goes forward, I thought there might be plans for moveable bleachers for a couple thousand people and the team would be playing on artificial turf.

Gotta credit the Faths in Edmonton for the small stadium they have managed to get up and running and the commitment from their city to build a bigger one if they can get the attendance. They have singlehandledly changed the game up there and I hope they stick with it, I know they are incurring pretty decent losses.
