well yeah and thats just it, isn't it? the flames and oilers have one of the best, if not THE best rivalry in the NHL, and it's filled with history and great moments.
that's exactly why I get so ****ed off about all this bandwagon jumping, and constant "Oilers this and Oilers that" stuff around Calgary. It's as if some people have no concept of a rivalry at all, and it baffles me. All the people who were cheering for the Flames earlier this year and are now the Oilers biggest fans make me sick, and all the Edmonton fans that complain saying "why are some people so mad about this?" make me shake my head.
what really did it for me personally, was walking into a sports store and seeing Oilers t-shirts displayed right at the front of the store saying "YOU'RE IN OIL COUNTRY". wtf is that about? 1) we are NOT in Oil Country, and 2) displaying stuff like that totally defeats the point of a rivalry.
It's not what it once was.
