I think you may see less of an emphasis though on people purchasing the vehicles, and more on people getting the surface. There is a statistic somewhere (excuse my lack of citation) where it states that like 95% of the time, a car is parked. So, if you could limit the amount of parking time by sharing vehicles, you'd in theory reduce the number of vehicles on the road, which would be the real bummer for car manufacturers.
And for that matter, as this thing moves towards adoption in the future, I'd be brushing up my resume if I were a bus driver/taxi driver. A lot of displaced labour if this were to go full monty.
