If it is indeed the capacitors, it's a really easy fix. Open the tv up after it has been unplugged from the wall for a little while, and see if any of the capacitors are blown. If they are, you can buy new ones and solder them in place. Cheap easy fix. I did it to my tv, and probably ten others from people who wanted them repaired.
